Some Ideas about Teaching

Homework

I've never been able to understand why so many teachers so often set mundane copying, cloze, note-taking, colouring-in and other no-brainer activities in class, when they are there to help the pupils, and then set open-ended, free-thinking, challenging, skills-based tasks for homework, which the pupils have to do at home with no-one to help them.

Surely it should be the other way round?
